| An intrepid group of seven Carnies made the trip to Newnham Park near Plymouth for this excellent off road race. The course is 8 miles long and takes in trails, fields, woodland paths and a few river crossings within the country park estate. The race has been going for around ten years now and is always a sell out.
Donna was 6th lady overall in a time of 57 minutes. Ceri was next in 65 minutes, fuelled on no doubt by curry power after the Indian night a few hours beforehand. Helen T and Pete Drew were next to finish in 67 minutes.

Richard ('Jensen', pictured 2nd above) had a busy weekend. After piling down his curry and beer it was off to Japan for the F1 where miraculously he actually finished, coming home in 11th place. Then it was straight back home and onto the start line for the 8 miles round the trails. He crossed the line in 76 minutes with Barry Drew (below).

Carol Culley also ran but no one has seen her to report her time back to us. Knowing Carol, she's probably took a wrong turning and is at present consulting her Garmin at Exeter Services!
Donna's Report:
"Only a few Carnies ventured across the Tamar to this ever popular off road race. It’s got to be my favourite race of the whole year. 8 miles is a great distance and apart from one hill between 2.8 and 4miles the rest is easily runnable and gently undulating with a mixture of mud, rocks, tree roots, gravel, grass and 4 river crossings. This year the weather was perfect, a gentle breeze and sunshine for the supporters. The rivers were deep enough and just enough mud to make sections a bit dicey but great fun and I got a PB by 2 ½ mins which I was dead chuffed with and finished just behind Revis ‘again’! I think they had near 700 entries this year so let’s hope that someone else will take on the race next year now that Frank Elford has given up organising it after 9 great years.
Ceri was next in after me with a great time of 1hr 5mins and was followed closely by Helen (who had an extra bit to run as she was in the loo when we started!) LOL, I thought Charlotte was the only person who could get to the race in plenty of time and miss the start! Richard was next with the rest of the family close behind and Carol looked good as she finished and I think she thoroughly enjoyed it too. Richard is looking forward to the results from his heart monitor when they download the info in the next few days! May take a bit of explaining!
No prizes for us Carnies this week at this race but all had a great run and no injuries !"
