More prizes for the mantlepiece!!

This event is usually ran in driving rain and wind but today it was a perfect Autumn morning with plenty of sunshine, a chilly start as 11 Carnies lined up on the start line. Janet, Pete K, Tommy and Les were our front runners today, followed by the 'famous five' - Pete D, Roy, Scotty, Steve and myself. We all tarted together and gradually spread ourselves out along the course, Roy and Steve passed me about half way and I still managed to keep everyone in sight until the final drag past Morrishes. Enjoyed the final downhill stretch then pushed hard around the field to finish in 52 minutes, despite a 'slight' post-rugby hangover! Carol Culley was our next finisher and was chuffed to finish well under the hour, a course PB, Judy arrived with plenty of support from fellow clubmates.
I was extremely pleased to get a trophy for first Lady over 40, Janet was third lady overall and first in her age cat, Tommy and Roy also picked up first prizes for their age groups.

"Not a bad Carn turn out for a Sunday morning in Redruth, normally avoiding the broken glass and left over takeaways.
Nice and bright but a wee bit breezy and definitely wind against on Sandy Lane.
After the suicidal Attack of the 50 ft Woman chase down to the school, the reality of the hill up to Avers, the long drag up to Mt Ambrose and then Mt Ambrose itself took its toll one some who otherwise thought 1st and 2nd gears don't exist.
People must have thought I was sling shotting Roy at the top of every hill as "meep meep" off he went again.
I know what Dave Scott would be called if he were a girl! Every time he let us catch him on a hill, he sauntered off never letting us get near him for the important bit - the finish.
Alison finished well considering the performance enhancing hangover and won her age group (1st prize, a trip to Toni and Guy judging by the photo).
Congratulations to Tom as first Carnie home. Les also seems to be full of Eastern promise.
Apologies if anyone else won anything but I didn't hang around long enough to find out. I had to get back before Wendy did any more damage to the new camera with which she has managed to produce photos (extra apology to Peter Drew) that make photo fits on Crimewatch look good. Don't have any nightmares.
She isn't having the remote! "
