| First time for the ‘Eller
Another Sunday, another early morning, another race.
Well it was Sunday but the early morning wasn’t too bad as we had an extra hour in bed due to the clocks changing back to GMT and it wasn’t just another race it was the first ever ‘Eller at Millbrook near Torpoint.
The race had been billed as having some of the best scenery and views of any race in Cornwall, however, the thick sea mist and driving rain meant that you could easily lose the runner in front even if they were only a few steps away.
The field was small, but enough for the organisers to build on in the future. Those that did enter were not disappointed. The race was extremely well marshalled and the frequent drink stations were well manned.
The course was by no means easy with no chance of a PB. It was very hilly with over 1800 ft of ascent and descent with the last short 1 in 5 climb in the last mile having just about everybody walking including the eventual winner who came home in 58:32.
I got to the finish just after that in 1:30:32 and picked up the honour of first Carnie home.
Definitely one to do again next year, and perhaps enjoy the views.
