| The 2009 Cornish Grand Prix journey wound it's way up the A30 to Saltash for this aptly titled race. The Trotters from Tamar have a reputation for putting on a grand race.
This year the runners were spared again from the baking temperatures that have added to the 'enjoyment' on some previous occasions.
Eleven Carnies made the trip up through torrential downpours. Thankfully, things were drier up at Saltash Rugby Club where the race is based.
The race got under way at 11am and the runners sped off downhill for the first mile before they would face one of the hardest climbs in the GP calendar. By this time i was back in the clubhouse tucking into a cheeseburger as the runners would have been struggling up that hill. Perhaps being injured ain't all bad!!!
Soon enough it was time to go down the road to see the runners coming up that final drag to the finish.
It was great to see Dave Buzza leading and looking odds on for a well deserved win. He had a decent gap on Jim Cole but remembering what happened to Ollie Gibson last Wednesday, nothing could be taken for granted! Dave was going so fast that i completely fluffed taking his photo. Sorry mate. Same with Emma Stallard. I was substituted as Photographer as Carol came on all Alan Sugar...."You're Fired!!!"
First Carnie was Pete Drew who was looking pretty fresh coming up that last climb, but as ever looks can be decieving. Nice one, Pete. Bring on Chris Hodge!!

Nigel Tomlinson kept up his 100% record in this year's GP and ticked off yet another race.

Barry Drew had his eye on his watch as he tried to grind out a course PB. Time started to slip away however, and he was just outside his time from last year.

Janet Ritchie is slowly getting back after a long niggling injury and this testing course will have certainly left her a bit fitter!

Things were looking tough for Dennis as he gritted his teeth and growled something along the lines that he had found it hard going and he was a little tired!

No such problems for Alex Findlay as he produced another strong run after commenting before the race that after Launceston this race should be a doddle. Well, not exactly perhaps as we detected the odd drop of sweat on his brow.

Carol Culley is having a fantastic year in the GP. After a string of solid performances, she was delivering the same yet again.

Judy Jameson found some good form and has finaly shaken the marathon out of her legs. She worked hard today as her photo shows!

Not a good day for Lizzy Culley. Rumour of an injury or just a heavy night last night? She still managed to get her head down and keep her legs pumping to the finish. Good effort, Lizzy.
Julie Knights is getting stronger and stronger and had a great run over such a hilly course. She was rewarded with a nice big medal. She was well chuffed as it was her first medal. She'd got a few T Shirts, mugs, etc but before today no finisher's medal. Clear space in the attic, Julie!

Carole Drew was looking strong as she toiled up the last hill. Despite missing a bit of training over the last few weeks she managed to work the old magic yet again.

Good Effort everyone and some good GP points in the bag. All roads lead to Indian Queens......
