St Levan 10K race report

It's a rainy night in Georgia.. er sorry, Polgigga......
Forget the M25 at rush hour.  You want to try the road between Treen and Polgigga on St Levan 10K night!!  Gridlock.  They need a flyover down there, boy!!!

When we finally get there with all wing-mirrors intact, we find a great number of Carnies mingling around at the playing fields pinning numbers on etc.

Rounding them all up for a group photo was another thing but I just about pulled it off with just a couple missing.

Leaving them to line up for the start, I went up the course to the first turn and potential photo spot.
After a good chat with Pete Sarge which included clearing the road of an ex-rabbit and it’s intestines, the first runners were soon rounding the corner.

Chris Hodge (above) was well to the fore and well supported by George (below), Steve P and Mark W.  Another good men’s team turnout.

As it would turn out, the ladies weren’t to be outdone and with Helen and Janet leading the charge they were to run out runners up in the ladies team race.

Pete Drew was in fine form again moving quickly as well as ducking and diving to make my job as a budding David Bailey all the much harder.
Dennis is another one who tries to avoid my amateur snap shots but I scored a result and got both of them.  You can run, but you can't hide!

Great to see Chris Chislett racing down here again although my course description was called into question by him when I said it was pretty flat!!  Definition of the word ‘pretty’ used loosely.

Lizzy had a stormer of a run and finished strongly and would have surely destroyed Ma tonight eh, Liz? Laura was just behind Lizzy to make up our ladies team.  After a spell of disappointing runs, Laura was happy to find her form returning and had a buzz about her again at the finish.

Fi and Carol G took a steady run round enjoying the scenery, drizzle and mist of a typical ‘summer’ evening 2009 style!

In the evening gloom the drizzle and mist got more intense as we crowded around for the presentation.
Ex-Coventry City legend, Steve Chapple made good time with the presentations whilst we could still see him through the mist.
Hodgey was winner of his age group and we nearly detected a smile there, Chris. You beauty!
The Carn ladies were credited with runners up to MBH ladies in their team competition.

A good night’s racing for the Carn lads and lasses with a few PB’s for our runners including Mark and Steve.

All good!!  Well Done to all those who ran.  Look out for the dodgy photos coming soon and the results in the Results Section as always.  Sadly no sign of Summer!!
