With the Mob Match bringing down the curtain, on Sunday, on another Grand Prix season, my nerdie instincts took over and I delved into the season's statistics to see how Carn Runners had fared in the competition. Obviously many, many non grand prix races were run by club members.

57 club members ran at least one race
31 of those were men
26 of those were women
1 man did all 15 events

7 women did at least the 8 qualifying races
The men break down into
Under 40 9
Over 40 4

Over 50 3
Over 55 3
Over 60 4
Over 70 1
Women break down into
Under 35 4
Over 35 3
Over 40 4
Over 45 8
Over 50 3
Over 60 3
Over 65 1
Mark Dorrell finished 4th in the Male Over 45 age group and Carol Culley finished 4th in the Female Over 45 age group.
The current club membership is 83 so the percentage of club members attempting at least one GP event is roughly two thirds.
The mens team team finished 10th out of 11 who completed all 8 races.
The womens team finished 8th out 11 who completed 8 races.
The mens team scored highest points in marathons and half marathons. The womens teams scored highest points in tougher of the shorter races.
No team points were gathered in the shorter type races by either team.
As a club, those competing in the Grand Prix and probably all other races, prefer the longer, tougher type. The greater percentage of club members are over 45.
Conclusion, In the main we are a bunch of middle aged plodders with nothing better to do on a Sunday.
