| For those of you who couldn't make it on Friday night I apologise if I appear to be rubbing salt in the wound when I say it was a resounding success.
Over 60 revellers ate, drank and danced their way into the late night at the first formal Dinner Dance for some time. And most agreed it was a great format and a popular choice. The venue was very good, a slight inconvenience for Steve Phillips have to run up and down stairs every time Betty Stoggs came a calling which of course was pretty frequent, he wouldn't want it easy would he.
The choice of carvery seemed popular and many a plate was full enough to merit special thanks to the waitresses who now have arms resembling Popeyes.
The competition was very professionally organised and the answers revealed yet more about the cosmopolitan make up of our club.
May I on behalf of the other award winners: Steve Phillips, Barrie Cardew, Nigerl Tomlinson, Rob Rochowiak, Wendy Marks and old Big 'Ead himself, say thank you sincerely to all club members who considered them worthy of their consideration and respect.
Finally, a big thank you to the organisers who did a very impressive job and made sure that next years will take a bit of living up to. Tuxedo for hire?
