| A CHRISTMAS CAROL |
|

|
| Carols pre-race entertainment and a virtual coach help her exorcise the ghosts of the past and run a cracker of a time. On with the future now! |
My warm up began on saturday night, good food, excellent company and a tad of hopping and bopping on the dance floor, great night Hayle - not only can they run but they have a poet and a comedian or two.
Sunday morning dawned frosty and sunny, and a little more warming up required, defrost the freezer and complete the ironing and of to the race to meet Sandy, only five minutes later than planned.
Parking was in a field close to Tricky's with no repeat of the crazy parking at the summer event. We thought we might be three lonely carns today but the welcome sight of the yellow and blue vests meant a trickle of nine or so with our unvested guest female competitor (wouldn't it be much easier if I could just remember her name) completing her first race today and possibly this unnamed person had an age prize, great stuff.
The usual start, announcesments that can't be heard followed by the gun that always a surprize and startles one to action.
Sandy's wise words "we must not go mad for the first mile" were hard to follow as we chased those in front with our first mile in just over eight minutes.
With a virtual Wendy on my shoulders I dare not walk today and had a very enjoyable run with Sandy always in my view. Almost perfect running conditions, with only a slight head wind, a rare magic moment when I overtook a CAC female runner, I have to confess I am not exactly sure what a head wind is but it sounded good.
Well done to all the carns who ran today. Conratulations to Sandy who was third in her age group.
Thankyou on behalf of our turkey trotters for the support much appreciated - we will have to sort out a flag in the new year. |
