THESE TROTTERS AREN'T FOOLS AND HORSES
Its the mad dash that is the Turkey Trot again as Carnies look bootiful

It's the one race, apart from the winter one, that's right on our doorstep. We can't miss this either running or spectating. However, since the eye operation, I've only run six times, all in the last few days, and believe me, I've found the short sharp shock treatment to cure adolescent misbehaviour. So the racing bit was out, so the alternative was to spectate.

Great, drop the grandchildren back to their home after tea, trot round Illogan for the four miles we should have been doing but at a pace more suited to our predicament, back to their house which is on Broad Lane for a bit of Carnie spotting at about 7.45. Have to admit I trod on a snail, but I had no choice as it cut me up as it overtook.

Got the flag erected on the pole. Sorry Mr Flagmaker but you've put the beading on the wrong end so we have to just flutter it like a Chinese juggler. Luckily Martin Symons pops along to persuade me to stand on the opposite side to take pics while Wendy and the kids struggle with the flag.

Its not long before the first runners appear in the familiar colours of CAC. Young Connor is pulling them along and its not long before Chrissy Hodge grabs his usual award as first Carnie. Not knowing who has entered, I try to keep a sharp look out, which is difficult with only one good eye but I rely on Martin's Peter O'Sullivan like narrative to persuade me when to press the shutter.

A thumbs up and smile from Peter Kearney shows he's in good form and sprits and George soon passes wearing his familiar race face.

From then on the recognition problems begin. I just didn't see Tommy Polglase go past and after Rob glides past I completely miss Sonia. Have to say, part of the reason is the new vest colour that completely foxes me. The other part is because Sonia is going so fast! Olivia is next, confirming her position as the Most Improved in the county let alone the club, followed by Stephen trying to chase her down with the now familiar cap that has Pete Drew for company puts in another good time.

Nigel and then Dawn are heading for fast times followed by Richard who is wearing his World Cup orange. Must be the only guy that Webb didn't book. Along comes the invigorated Sandy, the determined Judy and Carol, who I bet had a good moan before the start but looked to be thoroughly enjoying herself.

Well done to all and I hope I didn't miss anyone, particularly new vest wearers. I don't know of any prize winners but certainly Hodgey must have had at least runner up in his age group and maybe there were one or two more, hope so.

Pics to follow.
