Meet The Runner
Coffee with friends after a run. I’m not a cake eater but do like dark chocolate.
I wear Saucony, Brooks or Hoka.
Go for it! You’ll enjoy running with others, keeping fit and heathy and making lots of new friendships.
I started running regularly in my 50s when I joined Womens Running Network to keep fit, and stay healthy with like minded women. That was over 20 years ago.
When Womens Running Network folded in 2010, I joined Carn Runners. I already knew quite a few members and it was the closest club to my home.
I enjoy the support and friendship of running with others.. I don’t think I would be still running at 73 years of age if I wasn’t in a running club. I regularly run 3 times a week.
Since joining Carn, I’ve completed 6 marathons, numerous half marathons and shorter races in the UK and abroad. With other club members we’ve had many enjoyable trips away, including Palma, Pathos, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, London, Bath and Devon.
Over the years I’ve routinely competed in the Cornish Grand Prix and Multi-Terrain series.
I love running with my friends from the club to keep fit and healthy. It’s a great social activity. Now that I’m in my 70s I feel it’s important to keep active and as well as running do exercises to maintain your strength and flexibility such as Yoga, Pilates and weight training.
We are so lucky in Cornwall to have some superb running routes. My particular favourite is the dunes on a Friday evening with spectacular views of the coast. As one of our members says “all this for free.”
I wear Saucony, Brooks or Hoka.
