Meet The Runner
Long runs have got to be a protein milk shake, or if in a cafe a mocha and marmalade on toast 🙂
Club nights have a bar, so half a lager is very acceptable ……….
As I slightly over pronate Whirlwind sports recently spent nearly an hour trying different shoes on the treadmill to find the new right pair to give me the support i now need, which has changed a couple of times over the years, when I started I had never heard of Gait Analysis, this is recommended for running more than 5 miles fairly regularly. As a beginner all those years ago I ran my first marathon in the wrong trainers for me and spent months trying to correct shin splints, and lots of money thrown at sports therapists unnecessarily.
Please come along, give us a try ….. we love to see new members and guide them through their journey, which may or may not change once you have joined.
About to turn the big ’40’, decided time to start eating healthy rather than out the freezer as it was easy with a baby and full time job.
Decided with Mark (hubby) to train up to 4/5 miles before venturing into a club environment, but things have come a long way and this is no longer a requirement.
Carn Runners was my local club, more social and friendly club, I didnt want anything too competitive to start with ……. but I knew I needed support and encouragement if I was going to stick at it.
I love to run with people, end of !
I love to run, and chat, and eat cake after too 🙂
As an active run leader, committee member, Club Captain, social secretary as well as being our Race Director for a couple of years, this club offers you more than ‘just the run’ if that is the sort of thing you are looking for.
I love the socials I wont disagree, socials give great vibes and encourage run groups on days not provided by the club (at least 4 days out of 7).
I have completed all the road GP series, some many times. I prefer road to trail, but watch this space !
Members have supported me along training runs for 6 marathons, dipping in and out depending on the distances preferred. I have completed many half marathons along the way, still looking for new races and adventures.
This year (2025) I have completed Newquay 10k, and London Marathon, looking now to complete St Agnes half at the end of May, and my first Ultra 50k in July which is an unknown to me, being both trail and stretching the distance, but I am learning to run with my jam sandwiches and jaffa cakes !!
I love the social element.
I appreciate guidance and advice from others who have gone before me realising too that not all advice is solid, until you try – we are all very different and every run day is still a learning day.
I love being able to call on members or support members when they want/need to do or try something pushing their boundaries.
As I love tarmac and the countryside I love routes in country lanes in the early evening, these are my favourite runs.
