Meet The Runner
Ready salted crisps that always survive in my running bag. Plus a hot chocolate.
Road shoes are currently Brooks. Although I have used Saucony in the past.
Can’t beat Hokkas for trail running.
I wish I had joined years ago. It’s the best decision I have made regarding my running.
I have been running for many years but mainly on my own or with my sister. We both are very competitive so have raced with and against each other. She’s the bad influence and got me into trail running, signing me up for longer and longer races.
I love the freedom that running gives you and disappearing for hours. It gives you plenty of time and space to think and listen to a good podcast.
Ive signed up for longer races than I’ve ever done and wasn’t training properly or even getting the motivation to go out. So joining a running club meant I would have like minded people to encourage me to get out and knowing that they could help with the longer races.
I found these online as they were the closet club and joined. It was scary at 1st but everyone instantly chats to you and wants to get to know you.
The camaraderie amongst everyone. It doesn’t matter whether you run slow or fast, everyone is so happy your there. I’ve made so many friends and had so much advice that my running has significantly improved even in the short few months I’ve been part of the club.
Plus the socials, even my husband agrees they are a good thing.
We all also volunteer for the big races locally. If we can’t run the race, we try to help out with the race.
Through the club I’ve signed up to most of the GP series although I have run a few of these before.
I did run my 1st marathon with club members. Never thought I would be able to.
I’ve got big trail runs coming up, the Classic Quarter, Man Vs Coast and then the Arc 25. I just love competing and getting more t shirts.
I look forward to Wednesdays now as I love being able to chat and run. The Sunday socials are also something I love. They have helped me so much with working out my hydration and fuelling for races. Lots of advice and it’s so easy to ask questions.
I’m fitter and happier with my overall health.
I love the coastal paths. The scenery is amazing round here. You don’t realise how far you’ve run as it’s not boring to look at.
