Carn Runners were back on the road for one of the South West’s biggest race days, with Taylor, Kerry and Amy all taking on the Plymouth Half Marathon.
Starting and finishing on Plymouth Hoe, the event is part of the Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival and takes runners over the classic 13.1-mile half marathon distance through the city. It’s a big-stage race with thousands of runners, plenty of support and a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.
For the Carn crew, it turned into a fantastic day of strong running, personal bests and proud performances.
PB Joy for Kerry
Kerry had an amazing day in Plymouth, putting together a brilliant run to secure a new half marathon PB of 1:46:56.
She finished strongly among a huge field of runners and was also 6th female in her age group, making it a performance to be really proud of.
After the race, Kerry summed it up perfectly, saying she was really pleased with herself — and already has her eye on coming back next year.
That’s always the sign of a good race day.
Taylor Takes Nearly Two Minutes Off His PB
There was also a brilliant PB for Taylor, who crossed the line in 1:39:42, taking nearly two minutes off his previous half marathon best, which had been set at Falmouth earlier this year.
This race had been a big target since Taylor returned to running late last year, and despite a few injuries along the way, the hard work clearly paid off.
With club nights, practice races and plenty of miles with Carn Runners behind him, this was a fantastic result and a great sign of things to come.
Amy Takes on the Plymouth Half
Alongside Kerry and Taylor, Amy also took on the Plymouth Half Marathon, adding to a brilliant Carn Runners presence at the event.
Taking on a busy city half marathon is always a great experience, with the energy of the crowds and the scale of the event helping to carry runners through the miles.
It was fantastic to see all three Carn runners representing the club so well on such a big race day.
A Brilliant Day for Carn Runners
The Plymouth Half Marathon continues to be a standout event in the South West race calendar, with its city centre route, big crowds and iconic finish area on Plymouth Hoe.
For Carn Runners, it was another proud day out, with two PBs, strong performances and the club colours flying in Devon.
Huge congratulations to Taylor, Kerry and Amy for taking on the Plymouth Half Marathon.
