Margaret, Zoe and Sandy took Carn Runners on the road for the Windsor Women’s 10K, heading to the race with a couple of friends and enjoying a great weekend together. There was plenty to celebrate in the results, too: Sandy finished third in her age group, while the group placed 19th in the team standings.
A 10K weekend away from Cornwall
The race took place on Saturday 26 September 2026 in Windsor Great Park. Its start and finish were on the Long Walk, giving the runners a very different setting from a typical weekend’s miles around Camborne and Redruth. The organiser’s 2026 course map and runner booklet show the route through the park, including areas around Smith’s Lawn and Prospect Lane.
For Margaret, Zoe and Sandy, this was more than a single race on the calendar. They made the trip with friends and came away having had a great weekend. That combination of a shared journey, a new place to run and a race to take on together is part of what makes an away event memorable. The 10K provided the focus; the weekend gave everyone something to share beyond their own finish line.
Sandy’s age-group podium and a team result
Sandy’s third place in her age group was a standout individual achievement. Age-group placings recognise performances within a runner’s category, so finishing third is a result worth celebrating in its own right. Congratulations, Sandy!
The group also finished 19th in the team standings. It is a result that belongs alongside the individual placing: Margaret, Zoe and Sandy headed to Windsor with friends, took on the same 10K and brought home a team position as well. The event’s runner booklet explains that its first-team prize is based on the combined times of the first three runners for a team, reflecting how individual runs can contribute to a shared result.
