A weekend social run took Carn Runners from Camborne to Marazion, but it did not ask everyone to cover the same distance. Some members ran the full journey; others joined along the way. The shared destination was a café stop in Marazion—and, for Antony, the outing also brought a milestone: 1,000 miles run so far in 2026.
It was a lovely combination of individual goals and a morning spent together. Antony’s total represents far more than this one outing, built up over the year run by run. Reaching that mark on a social run gave the club another reason to celebrate alongside the simple pleasure of getting out together.
Different starting points, one social run
Starting in Camborne and finishing in Marazion gave the outing a destination rather than a loop back to the beginning. Members who wanted the full journey could take it on, while those who preferred fewer miles could join the run further along. Everyone was heading for the same finish.
That flexibility is worth noting. A point-to-point outing can sound like an all-or-nothing undertaking, but this one made room for more than one starting point. The runners did not need identical mileage to share the run or the time afterwards. There was no race result to compare at the end: the full-distance effort, the shorter options and the company were all part of the day.
A big number for Antony
A thousand miles is a striking number, and it deserves its own moment in the story. Congratulations to Antony on reaching 1,000 miles run so far this year. The Camborne-to-Marazion run was one part of that year-long total, not a 1,000-mile event in itself.
It is the sort of milestone that can be easy to miss when attention turns to race days and finish times. This weekend offered a chance to recognise the miles accumulated between those occasions, too. At the same time, there was no mileage target attached to joining the group: members could choose the part of the outing that suited them and still be there to mark Antony’s achievement.
Marazion, then the café
Marazion made a welcome place to finish. The town sits on Mount’s Bay, opposite St Michael’s Mount; Visit Cornwall’s guide to Marazion gives a closer look at the destination. For this club outing, though, the plan was straightforward: reach town and enjoy a well-deserved café stop.
After different starting points and distances, sitting down together gave the run a fitting social finish. It was a chance to enjoy the company that had made the miles worthwhile, with something tasty at the end. Thank you to everyone who joined the run, whether you set off from Camborne or picked it up along the way—and another big well done to Antony.
