It was a brilliant day of racing on the south coast as Sam represented Carn Runners at the Brighton Half Marathon, delivering a fantastic performance and achieving an impressive sub-2-hour finish.
The Brighton Half Marathon is one of the UK’s most popular half marathon events, attracting thousands of runners each year. Known for its lively atmosphere and scenic coastal route, it provides a memorable experience whether you are chasing a personal best or simply enjoying the challenge of the 13.1-mile distance.
For Sam, it turned out to be a race to remember.
A Big Race Atmosphere
Brighton always delivers when it comes to race day atmosphere. With large crowds lining the streets and runners arriving from all over the country, the event has a real buzz from the moment participants gather at the start.
The route takes runners through the vibrant city before heading out along Brighton’s famous seafront. Running beside the sea with cheering spectators along the course creates a fantastic environment that helps keep runners motivated mile after mile.
Sam was joined by her partner on the day, with both taking on the challenge together and flying the Carn Runners colours proudly away from Cornwall.
A Brilliant Sub-2-Hour Achievement
Breaking the two-hour mark in a half marathon is a goal many runners work towards. It requires strong pacing, consistent effort and the ability to keep pushing when fatigue begins to creep in during the later miles.
Sam did exactly that, putting together a strong and determined run to cross the finish line in under two hours – a fantastic result and something to be extremely proud of.
Running a sub-2 half marathon represents a pace of just over 9 minutes per mile, which takes both preparation and determination to maintain across the full distance. Achieving that on a busy race course with thousands of runners around you makes the result even more impressive.
Representing Carn Runners Beyond Cornwall
It’s always great to see members of Carn Runners taking part in races further afield and proudly representing the club across the country.
From local trail races to major half marathons like Brighton, Carn runners continue to show the same enthusiasm, dedication and love of running wherever they race.
Sam’s performance is another great example of that spirit — travelling across the country, taking on a big race event and coming away with a fantastic result.
A Huge Well Done
Massive congratulations to Sam (and her fella!) for taking on the Brighton Half Marathon and delivering such a strong performance.
A sub-2 finish is a brilliant achievement and a great moment for any runner. It’s fantastic to see the Carn colours being worn proudly at events across the UK.
Well done Sam — a result to celebrate and one to be proud of.
