Twenty-one Carn Runners took on the Marazion 10K on Sunday 27 September 2026, giving the club plenty to celebrate across the individual and team results. Kerry and Tommy each finished first in their age group, James recorded his best age-group placing yet with sixth, and nine Carnies came away with personal bests.
There was strength in numbers, too. Carn’s two women’s teams placed sixth and 17th, while the men’s team finished eighth. It was a substantial club turnout at a Cornish race where every runner had their own 10K to tackle.
Age-group wins for Kerry and Tommy
Congratulations to Kerry and Tommy on taking the top spot in their respective age groups. A category win is a standout result on any race day, and bringing home two from the same event gives Carn Runners twice the reason to celebrate.
James also deserves a special mention. Sixth in his age group marks his best position yet: a result worth recognising in its own right. Finishing places are one way to see progress, and this was a new high point for him.
Nine PBs a first 10K for Nadine
Nine personal bests among 21 Carnies is another headline from the afternoon. Those PBs sit alongside the age-group results and team placings as part of a strong collective showing. They also represent nine individual benchmarks improved over the same distance — something each runner can carry into their next race.
There was also a milestone of a different kind for Nadine, who completed her very first 10K race. Taking on a new race distance for the first time is an achievement in itself, and Marazion gave her a proper introduction to the distance.
The course provided a proper test for anyone chasing a time. Hayle Runners’ event information describes the Marazion 10K as a one-loop, all-road race with 131 metres of elevation and an uphill finish. That final climb makes a PB here particularly satisfying.
Three Carn team placings
The team results tell another part of the story. With two women’s teams placing sixth and 17th and the men’s team eighth, Carn had runners contributing beyond the individual highlights. Team placings give the club a result to share, whether a member was chasing a category position, aiming for a PB or simply taking on the race.
There were 19 Carnies at last year’s Marazion 10K; this year’s turnout of 21 was bigger still. It is lovely to see so many members representing Carn at the same local event, with plenty of different achievements to recognise afterwards.
