Carn Runners were represented in Exeter as Mike took on the Great West Run, a well-organised half marathon through the city.
Starting at Exeter Arena, the route headed into and around the city centre before taking runners out along Cowley Road, with a welcome stretch under the trees before returning back towards the city.
A Hot Day for Racing
Conditions were far from easy, with temperatures reaching around 28 degrees on the day. Add in several thousand runners, with the 10K taking place at the same time, and it made for a busy, warm and challenging race.
Running a half marathon in that kind of heat takes patience, sensible pacing and plenty of determination.
A Strong Finish from Mike
Despite the tough conditions, Mike put in a solid performance and finished in 2 hours 11 minutes.
That’s a great result on a hot day, especially in a busy event with so many runners out on the course.
Another Great Carn Effort
It’s always brilliant to see Carn Runners taking on events across the South West, and Mike did the club proud once again.
A big well done to Mike on a strong run at the Great West Run 👏💙💛
