A huge well done to Nick, who ran the Cardiff Half Marathon in an amazing 1:37:13 on Sunday 4 October 2026. It is a brilliant result over 13.1 miles, and a chance to celebrate the training that went into reaching the start line ready to race.

Nick’s finish was comfortably inside one hour and 40 minutes: two minutes and 47 seconds inside it, to be exact. A half-marathon time can look like a simple line of numbers once the race is over, but it represents the whole distance covered on the day. This one gives Nick and everyone at Carn Runners something to celebrate.

From Cardiff Castle to the Civic Centre

The 2026 Cardiff Half Marathon brought runners into the Welsh capital on Sunday 4 October. For Nick, it was an away race rather than a club-organised event: an opportunity to take the training miles beyond Cornwall and put them to work over the half-marathon distance.

Cardiff offers plenty to take in along the way. According to the organiser’s course guide, runners start near Cardiff Castle and head past the Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium towards Penarth. From Penarth Marina, the route crosses the barrage into Cardiff Bay, passing landmarks including the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre. It then heads north for a loop around Roath Park Lake before finishing in the Civic Centre.

That route gives the race a shape of its own: city streets, a stretch by the water and a final return towards the centre. Whatever part of the course stands out most to a runner, every mile counts towards the same finish line. Nick covered them all in 1:37:13.

A result built before race day

The headline is Nick’s finishing time, but the story begins before Cardiff. He had put in the training for this half marathon, and on race day it paid off. We do not need to call it a personal best or compare it with another race to appreciate what he achieved: breaking 1:40 by nearly three minutes is an excellent performance in its own right.

It is also a reminder of why we enjoy sharing members’ race news. Carn Runners turn up at events near home and farther afield, each with their own distance and goal. Nick’s Cardiff result is his achievement, and it is a lovely one for the club to recognise. Readers following the event can visit the organiser’s Cardiff Half Marathon results page.

Congratulations, Nick. All that training has produced a finish worth celebrating. For more Carn Runners half-marathon stories, read about the club’s runners at the Plymouth Half Marathon.
