Carn Runners were back in ultra-distance action as Jeanette, Laura M and Eleanor took on the challenging Serpent Trail 50K in Hampshire.
A 50K event is a serious test for any runner. It asks for endurance, patience, strength and plenty of mental resilience, especially when the miles start to build and the legs begin to tire.
For all three Carn runners, this was a huge achievement. For Eleanor, it was an extra special milestone — her first-ever ultra-distance run.
A Tough Ultra-Distance Challenge
The Serpent Trail is known for its beautiful but demanding route, with runners taking on varied terrain, woodland paths, open sections and long stretches where pacing and focus really matter.
Ultra-running is very different from shorter race distances. It is not just about speed. It is about managing effort, fuelling properly, keeping the body moving and staying positive through the inevitable tough patches.
Jeanette, Laura and Eleanor all showed fantastic determination to take on the challenge and represent Carn Runners over such a demanding distance.
First Ultra for Eleanor
A huge extra congratulations goes to Eleanor, who successfully completed her first-ever ultra-distance run.
Stepping beyond marathon distance is a massive moment in any runner’s journey. It takes courage just to stand on the start line, let alone push through to the finish.
Completing a first ultra is something that stays with you, and Eleanor should be incredibly proud of what she has achieved.
Brilliant Running from Jeanette and Laura
Alongside Eleanor, Jeanette and Laura M also deserve huge credit for taking on the 50K distance.
Events like this require weeks and months of training, preparation and commitment. Getting to the finish line is never guaranteed, and completing the distance is a brilliant achievement in itself.
Another Proud Day for Carn Runners
It is always inspiring to see Carn Runners members pushing themselves into new challenges, travelling further afield and taking on events that test both body and mind.
