A scorching summer evening didn’t stop 16 Carn Runners from taking on the popular St Agnes 5 Miler, one of Cornwall’s classic summer races.
Known for its challenging route, enthusiastic support and competitive field, the St Agnes 5 Miler always attracts a strong turnout from runners across the county. This year was no exception, with temperatures adding an extra challenge for everyone on the start line.
Hot Conditions Test the Field
Running five miles might sound straightforward on paper, but when the temperature rises, every mile feels a little longer.
The warm conditions made sensible pacing and hydration key factors on the evening, with runners digging deep to keep pushing all the way to the finish.
Despite the heat, the Carn contingent turned out in impressive numbers, with 16 members proudly wearing the club colours around the course.
Podium Success for Carn Runners
There was plenty to celebrate at the finish line too, with several Carn runners earning well-deserved age category prizes.
🏆 Kerry produced another fantastic performance to take 1st place in her age category.
🏆 Tommy continued his excellent run of form by securing 2nd place in his age category.
🏆 Sally added to her growing collection of podium finishes with 3rd place in her age category.
With three age category awards coming back to Carn Runners, it was a brilliant evening for the club.
Strength in Numbers
One of the standout things from the evening was simply seeing so many Carn runners on the start line.
A turnout of 16 members is fantastic to see and reflects the strong support the club continues to give local races throughout Cornwall.
Whether runners were chasing podium places, personal goals or simply enjoying another race-night experience, every runner played their part in making it a successful evening for the club.
Another Great Evening for the Carn Colours
The St Agnes 5 Miler once again delivered a fantastic evening of racing, and Carn Runners were right at the heart of the action.
A huge well done to all 16 Carnies who took part, and special congratulations to Kerry, Tommy and Sally on their age category successes.
Outstanding running from everyone in some very warm conditions 👏💙💛
