Winter running with Carn Runners continues to prove that shorter days and cooler temperatures do nothing to dampen the club’s enthusiasm. Over the past couple of weeks, members have been out in force across weekend social runs, Friday evening outings and parkrun mornings, enjoying a great mix of routes, distances and company.

From steady miles around Camborne to coastal runs down to Hayle, along with familiar Friday night routes and festive-season outings, these runs captured exactly what club running is all about — turning up, getting the miles done, and enjoying good company along the way.

Weekend Social Runs – Local Miles and Coastal Air

The weekend socials offered something for everyone, with groups heading out for 10 miles around the Camborne area, while others opted for a 7-mile route down to Hayle. These runs provided a perfect balance of local roads, familiar paths and a relaxed social pace that allowed plenty of chat as the miles ticked by.

The Camborne routes were ideal for stretching the legs without venturing too far afield, while the run to Hayle brought a welcome change of scenery and a reminder of how lucky we are to have such varied running options right on our doorstep. Whether runners were building endurance, keeping consistency through winter, or simply enjoying a steady social outing, the weekend runs delivered exactly what was needed.

Friday Runs – Illogan, Dunes and Festive Miles

Friday nights continued their tradition of reliable social running, with routes taking in Illogan and a refreshing dunes run before Christmas. These evenings are always a favourite, offering a chance to unwind after the working week while still getting some quality miles in.

The Illogan routes provided familiar terrain and steady gradients, ideal for relaxed conversation and regrouping along the way. The dunes run added a seasonal twist, with fresh air, open space and that unmistakable feeling of heading into the festive period together as a club. Even as Christmas approached, turnout remained strong — proof that the Friday crew are well and truly committed to their weekly ritual.

Parkrun Mornings at Penrose

No roundup would be complete without mentioning parkrun, and there were a couple of visits to Penrose parkrun during this period. Whether running or volunteering, Carn Runners were well represented, enjoying the friendly atmosphere and muddy winter conditions that Penrose often delivers.

Parkrun mornings continue to be a great way for members to come together outside of club nights, supporting one another and enjoying a shared start to the weekend. As always, the encouragement from marshals and fellow runners helped make these mornings as enjoyable as they were productive.

Keeping the Miles Social Through Winter

What stood out most across these runs was the consistency and community spirit. Winter running isn’t always easy, but having regular weekend socials, dependable Friday nights and parkrun meet-ups makes all the difference. The variety of distances and routes meant everyone could find something that suited them, while still feeling part of the wider group.

As the year drew closer to Christmas, these runs provided a welcome pause from the busy season — a chance to catch up, enjoy familiar routes, and keep the momentum going into the new year.

Looking Ahead

A big thank you to everyone who came along, helped lead, supported others and made these runs what they were. Whether you joined one run or several, you helped keep the club moving through the winter months.

With plenty more miles ahead, these recent socials are a great reminder that no matter the season, Carn Runners continues to show up, run together and enjoy every step. 💙💛
