Carn Runners were once again flying the club colours across the border this weekend, as Janet headed to Devon to take on the popular Bideford Half Marathon.
The event has become a firm favourite on the South West running calendar, attracting runners from across the region thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, scenic route and excellent organisation. For Janet, it was another enjoyable day of racing at an event that continues to deliver year after year.
A Well-Loved Half Marathon
The Bideford Half Marathon is known for its fast and scenic course, much of which follows the beautiful Tarka Trail along the estuary. The flat route makes it popular with runners chasing personal bests, while the peaceful estuary views and supportive crowds make it a great experience for runners of all abilities.
As always, the event was brilliantly organised by Bideford AAC, whose volunteers help ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. From the well-managed start area to the friendly marshals along the course, the race once again showed why it has such a strong reputation among runners.
Flying the Carn Colours
Janet proudly represented Carn Runners on the start line, joining hundreds of other runners ready to tackle the 13.1 mile distance. Travelling to races beyond Cornwall is something many Carn runners enjoy, and it’s always great to see the club colours appearing at events across the South West.
Half marathons are a real test of pacing and endurance, requiring runners to settle into a steady rhythm and maintain focus across the full distance. The Bideford course offers the perfect setting for that, with long stretches along the estuary where runners can find their pace and enjoy the surroundings.
A Great Day of Running
Race days like this are about more than just the finish time. They’re about the experience, the atmosphere and the sense of achievement that comes from completing a challenging distance.
For Janet, it was another enjoyable outing at an event that continues to be a highlight for many runners each year. With a well organised race, a scenic course and a supportive running community, the Bideford Half Marathon once again delivered a fantastic day of running.
Representing Carn Runners Beyond Cornwall
It’s always brilliant to see Carn Runners members taking on races across the region and proudly representing the club. From local trail events to half marathons like Bideford, Carn runners continue to show enthusiasm, determination and a love of the sport wherever they race.
A big well done to Janet for taking on the Bideford Half Marathon and flying the Carn colours once again.
