The 2027 Cornish Grand Prix begins close to home for Carn Runners: our Trevithick 12K opens the series in Camborne on Sunday 17 January. From there, the first five fixtures offer a choice of distances and courses, from Newquay’s 10K to the Falmouth Half Marathon. You can pick one that appeals without committing to every race on the calendar.
The Cornwall Road Running race diary lists 15 Grand Prix fixtures for 2027. Here is a closer look at the first five, with direct links to their individual entry pages. The wider calendar is provisional, so use those pages for each organiser’s current race details.
The first five Grand Prix fixtures
1. Trevithick 12K — Sunday 17 January
We start the Grand Prix season with our own Trevithick 12K in Camborne. Twelve kilometres sits between a familiar 10K and a ten-mile race, while the undulating roads make it a distinct challenge. If you ran our former Storm Force 10, remember that Trevithick is a different distance.
The race starts at 9:30am, with headquarters at Camborne Science and International Academy. Our 2027 Trevithick entry update has the fuller briefing, including the optional shirt deadline. You are welcome to enter for this race alone; you do not need a year-long Grand Prix plan to enjoy the season opener.
2. Newquay 10K — Sunday 7 February
Three weeks later, the series moves to the Newquay 10K. Its organiser describes the course as generally fairly flat and fast, though there is a hill in the first mile and traffic-controlled junctions along the route. That makes it a different prospect from Trevithick if you would rather begin your Grand Prix year over a standard 10K distance.
The listed start time is 9am. Read the organiser’s entry information before travelling, particularly its parking arrangements: there is no parking at the Newquay Sports Centre site.
3. Looe 10 — Sunday 28 February
If you fancy stepping up in distance, the Looe 10 Miler follows at the end of February. The organiser describes an undulating route through West Looe and towards Talland, returning to the finish at Millpool. It is ten miles with plenty of changes in gradient, rather than a flat extension of a 10K.
The race is listed to start at 11am, and pre-entered runners collect their numbers on the day. Its entry page also gives the race headquarters, time limit and course arrangements. Those details are particularly useful if this would be your first ten-mile event.
4. An Res Hellys — Sunday 14 March
Do not let the Grand Prix’s road-racing label lead you to assume that every mile is on tarmac. The organiser describes An Res Hellys as a ten-mile multi-terrain race starting and finishing in Helston, with a route through the Penrose Estate. It offers a different kind of outing from Newquay or Looe while still appearing as the fourth Grand Prix fixture.
The listed start is 10am, with race-day number collection at the Old Cattle Market. Take a look at the organiser’s route and race information if the change of surface is what attracts you.
5. Falmouth Half Marathon — Sunday 4 April
The fifth listed fixture is the Run Falmouth Half Marathon. At 13.1 miles, it is the longest of these opening five races. For someone choosing a spring half marathon, it provides a clear date to consider; for someone who would rather start shorter, there are four earlier fixtures to choose from.
Make the calendar work for you
These races are options, not a five-race checklist. You might choose Trevithick because it is local, Newquay because you prefer 10K, or one of the longer events because that distance interests you. If you have series standings in mind, start with our Cornwall Grand Prix page and the organiser’s race diary for the rest of the provisional 2027 calendar. Check the individual organiser’s page for entry conditions and race-day arrangements before entering.
