Six Carn Runners headed to North Cornwall on Wednesday evening to take on the popular Bude Lifeboat Run, proudly flying the club colours at another fantastic local event.

The Bude Lifeboat Run is always a favourite on the racing calendar, offering a scenic route, a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of support along the way. On what turned out to be a lovely evening for running, our Carnies put in some brilliant performances.

Strong Running and Age Group Success

Representing Carn Runners were six dedicated runners, all giving their best around the course and doing the club proud.

A special congratulations goes to Peter and Dennis, who both produced outstanding performances to claim age category prizes.

Age group awards are always well earned, especially at well-supported races like Bude, and it’s fantastic to see Carn Runners continuing to feature on the podium.

The Race Was the Easy Part!

As satisfying as the race itself was, the journey home proved to be an endurance event of its own.

What should have been a straightforward trip quickly turned into an unexpected tour of Cornwall!

The A39 was closed at Wadebridge, forcing a diversion across to the A30 at Bodmin. Unfortunately, the A30 westbound was then closed at Lanivet, leaving no option but to head towards St Austell.

Just when it looked like the journey might get back on track, another surprise awaited as the A390 was closed through Truro. That meant yet another diversion, this time via Trispen before finally rejoining the A30 at Carland Cross.

After what should have been a simple drive home, the team eventually made it back just after midnight, more than two and a half hours after leaving Bude.

It’s fair to say the drive home was almost as memorable as the race itself!

Another Great Evening for Carn Runners

Road closures aside, it was another fantastic evening for the club.

Great performances, two age category prizes and six Carn Runners proudly representing the club made the trip more than worthwhile.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations once again to Peter and Dennis on their well-deserved age category awards.

Here’s hoping next year’s journey home is a little more direct! 👏💙💛
