Carn Runners had a massive contingent out for the Sticker 5, and once again the results showed just how much strength, depth and team spirit there is across the club.

This popular 5-mile road race around Sticker is never one to be underestimated. With its undulating country lanes and that sharp early climb, it asks plenty of every runner. It is the sort of race where you have to work hard from the off and keep digging all the way to the finish.

Our Carnies did exactly that.

From podium finishes and near misses to strong age-category placings and another excellent team result, there was plenty to celebrate from a brilliant evening of racing.

Tommy Leads the Way with an Age-Category Win

A huge congratulations goes to Tommy, who claimed 1st in his age category. 🥇

Winning your age group is always a fantastic achievement, especially in a race as competitive as Sticker. It is a reward for consistency, grit and racing well on a course that does not give much away for free.

A superb result from Tommy and another great performance in the Carn colours.

More Podium Success for the Carnies

Tommy was not the only one bringing home silverware.

Glynn continued his strong run of form by taking 3rd in his age category. 🥉

There was also double success for Kerry and Olivia, who finished 2nd and 3rd in their age category respectively. 🥈🥉 That is a brilliant achievement from both runners and another sign of the quality running right across the club.

Sally also added to the evening’s celebrations with 3rd in her age category. 🥉 Sally has put together so many strong performances this year, and this was yet another excellent result to add to the list.

With so many podium places coming back to Carn Runners, it was a fantastic night for the club.

Strong Runs Just Outside the Podiums

Of course, race nights are not only about podium finishes. Some of the most impressive performances are those that come just outside the prizes, especially in fiercely competitive categories.

Elena ran brilliantly to finish 5th in the highly competitive 20–34 age category. That is a superb run in what is often one of the toughest groups to place highly in.

Tonia was also incredibly close to the podium, taking 4th in her age category. So close, but still a fantastic performance and one that deserves plenty of recognition.

On another night, both of those runs might easily have ended with a medal.

Impressive Depth Across the Field

There were more excellent performances throughout the Carn contingent.

James finished a very impressive 7th in a brutally competitive age category, another result that shows just how well our runners are performing even when the podium places are hard fought.

Nick Webb also recorded a very respectable 13th in his age category, adding another strong run to the evening’s team effort.

These kinds of performances matter hugely. They help build team scores, show the strength of the club from front to back and highlight the depth that Carn Runners continue to bring to local race events.

Women’s Team Secures Fourth Place

There was also an outstanding team result to celebrate.

Once again, the Carn Runners women’s team showed just how strong they are, finishing an excellent 4th overall, missing out on 3rd place by just 11 points.

That is a fantastic achievement and one that reflects the quality and consistency of the team across the race.

To come so close to the podium in the team standings is frustrating in one sense, but it should also be seen for what it is: a brilliant collective effort and another strong statement from the Carn women.

They continue to impress at race after race.

More Than Results

While the results sheet gave us plenty to smile about, what really stands out on nights like this is the sheer spirit of the club.

Some runners brought home prizes. Others hit personal targets. Others simply got stuck in, tackled the course and crossed the line with that familiar mixture of relief, pride and satisfaction.

That all matters.

Because that is exactly what Carn Runners is about: turning up, giving your best, supporting one another and enjoying the experience, whether you are chasing the podium or just taking on the challenge.

A Brilliant Night for Carn Runners

The Sticker 5 gave Carn Runners another memorable evening of racing.

With a huge turnout, multiple age-category podium places, several excellent near misses and a superb 4th place finish for the women’s team, there was plenty to celebrate.

A massive well done to everyone who took part.

Special congratulations once again to Tommy, Glynn, Kerry, Olivia and Sally on their podium finishes, and to Elena, Tonia, James and Nick for such strong performances in competitive categories.

Whether you grabbed a prize, smashed a goal or simply crossed the line smiling, you did the club proud.

Fantastic running, Carnies! 💙💛
