Here at Carn Runners, we are more than just a running club; we are part of a vibrant local community. Based right in the heart of Camborne, our members regularly lace up and pound the pavements, running through many of the very streets where our friends, neighbours, and families live and work. Because our roots run deep in this area, we believe it’s vital to look out for one another, which is why supporting our local food bank, Transformation CPR, has become such an important part of our club’s identity.

Our partnership kicked off in high gear back in January during our popular Trevithick 12k race. The response from everyone who entered was simply overwhelming. True to form, the running community stepped up in a major way, with virtually every single entrant bringing along an item of food to donate. The mountain of provisions we collected set a fantastic tone for the year. Building on that momentum, we held a dedicated club-only event in July, raising an incredible £185 to directly support their ongoing operations.

To better understand the profound impact of these contributions, Club Captain Steve Webb and Treasurer Bex Martin visited the food bank last week. They met with the team to see firsthand how our club’s support has helped local families and to learn more about the breadth of Transformation CPR’s work.

Transformation CPR provides a vital lifeline across Camborne and Redruth. Operating multiple weekly food bank sessions alongside Community Hubs, they do much more than hand out emergency food parcels (providing up to a week’s supply of crisis food for those facing hardship). They actively connect people with essential advisory services, health and wellbeing support, and a compassionate, welcoming space when times get tough. With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis forcing more individuals and families, many seeking help for the very first time, to turn to them for support, the need has never been greater. As Steve and Bex learned during their visit, continuous donations of both food and financial contributions are absolute essentials to keeping these doors open.

Carn Runners couldn’t be prouder to stand beside Transformation CPR and champion their mission. We are thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our association with the organisation by hosting another food collection at the upcoming Trevithick 12k race on January 17th.

Let’s pull together once again to support the community that supports our running. Mark your calendars: race entries open this October! Whether you’re aiming for a personal best on race day or simply clearing out the cupboards for a good cause, every tin, packet, and pound makes a world of difference.
