Fireworks, Fun & the Famous Pub Route
Sometimes, a club run is about more than miles — it’s about moments. This week’s Carn Runners club night perfectly captured that spirit as members took on our much-loved Pub Route, with the added bonus of fireworks lighting up the Cornish sky.
While most people were watching the displays from home, Carn Runners were out on the roads, running through the colours, sparks and sounds of Bonfire Night. And honestly, it was magic.
Lighting Up the Lanes
The weather stayed on our side — crisp, cool, and dry enough to make running in hi-vis feel comfortable. As the group set off, the sky was already glowing with fireworks from every direction. It felt like our route was choreographed to the sounds of celebration — bursts of colour overhead, the crackle of rockets echoing off the houses, and the laughter of runners filling the air below.
The evening’s route was our classic Pub Run, an annual favourite where we weave through Camborne and nearby streets, passing as many local pubs as possible. From old favourites to hidden gems, the idea is simple: cover the distance, share a laugh, and enjoy the novelty of running past all the watering holes instead of stopping in them (well… almost! We of course have to stop for one in the cricket club at the end).
A Route Full of Local Character
The Pub Route has become something of a tradition — one of those runs that remind us how local running brings people together. The familiar landmarks, festive lights, and friendly waves from locals outside the pubs made it a true community night.
Fireworks bursting above added an extra layer of atmosphere. Every few minutes, the sky lit up with reds, blues, and golds — giving runners a light show as they moved through town. There were plenty of smiles, a few jumps at unexpected bangs, and even the occasional “ooh” and “aah” between breaths.
The group kept a relaxed pace, making sure everyone stayed together and could enjoy the spectacle. The beauty of club nights like this one is that they’re as much about connection as fitness — a reminder that running with friends can turn any dark evening into a celebration.
Post-Run Laughs & Club Spirit
After the run, members regrouped to chat, refuel, and laugh about near-misses with sparklers and which pub they’d stop at first if the route ever turned into a proper pub crawl.
The camaraderie was unbeatable — the kind that makes even the chilliest November night feel warm. Runs like this show exactly what makes Carn Runners special: it’s not just about times and races; it’s about friendship, laughter, and shared moments under Cornish skies.
A Night to Remember
As the fireworks faded and the group made their way home, one thing was clear — this was one for the memory books. A lively route, good company, and skies full of colour made for a club night that perfectly blended running and celebration.
Well done to everyone who joined the Fireworks Night Pub Route — you lit up the night, quite literally! 💛💙
