Yesterday marked a huge moment for Carn Runners as the Trevithick 12K took place for the very first time — and what a debut it was.
From start to finish, the day was a real celebration of everything the club stands for. Months of planning, preparation, and teamwork came together to deliver a race that ran smoothly, felt welcoming, and showcased Carn Runners at its very best.
Perhaps the biggest milestone of all?
For the first time in many years, the race sold out.
A True Team Effort from the Entire Club
Putting on a race of this scale doesn’t happen without a huge amount of behind-the-scenes work — and yesterday was the result of a genuine whole-club effort.
From:
- Planning and logistics
- Prize selection and coordination
- Medal design and preparation
- Course setup
- Marshalling
- Water stations
- Support along the route
Every part of the race relied on Carn Runners members stepping up and pulling together. Whether you were visible on the course or working quietly in the background, your contribution mattered.
The atmosphere on the day reflected that — friendly, well-organised, and supportive from start to finish.
Outstanding Leadership and Months of Preparation
A huge thank you goes to Jan Watson, whose leadership as Race Director was instrumental in making the Trevithick 12K happen. The level of organisation, calm coordination, and attention to detail was shown throughout the day.
Equal thanks must go to the committee, who have dedicated months of their time to planning, meetings, decisions, and preparation to bring this inaugural event to life.
This race didn’t just happen — it was built carefully, thoughtfully, and collaboratively.
Carnies on the Start Line — and on the Podium
Alongside the incredible volunteering effort, it was great to see Carn Runners also lining up to race on the day — and doing the club proud.
There were some standout performances, including:
- Sady taking 3rd place in her age group
- Tommy winning 1st place in his age group
Fantastic results and well deserved — proof that Carn Runners can organise races and race them.
An Inaugural Race to Be Proud Of
The Trevithick 12K wasn’t just another event on the calendar. It was a statement — about what the club can achieve when everyone pulls in the same direction.
Selling out, running smoothly, and receiving such positive feedback is something the whole club can be proud of. From experienced organisers to first-time marshals, every contribution helped make the day a success.
Let’s not forget the hundreds of runners taking part on the day, whether this was your first race or not, well done and thank you to you all!
Thank you to everyone who played a part — this one truly belonged to the entire Carn Runners family 💙💛
