Heartlands Parkrun 300th Event – A Milestone Celebration for the Community
This weekend marked a special milestone for the Heartlands Parkrun as it celebrated its 300th event—and what a celebration it was! With a target of welcoming over 300 runners to mark the occasion, the event exceeded all expectations, with an incredible 346 runners crossing the line and 36 volunteers ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Kat at the Helm
Among the key figures behind Heartlands Parkrun’s ongoing success is Kat, one of our very own Carn Runners. Kat serves as the run director and has dedicated countless hours to organising, coordinating, and making sure that each week’s event runs like clockwork.
Her commitment—along with that of the loyal team of volunteers, including several fellow Carnies—has made Heartlands Parkrun a welcoming and inclusive space for runners and walkers of all abilities. This week was a shining example of the community spirit they’ve built over 300 events.
Record-Breaking Turnout
The goal for this milestone event was clear: over 300 runners on the start line. Thanks to brilliant promotion, word-of-mouth enthusiasm, and the draw of a celebratory atmosphere, the target was smashed—346 runners took part, cheered on and supported by 36 volunteers.
The course buzzed with energy, and it was fantastic to see a mix of regulars and first-timers, alongside several visiting parkrunners from across the UK who came to share in the celebration.
Carn Runners Out in Force
Carn Runners played a big part in making the day special, with many members either volunteering or running to help reach the attendance target. Whether marshalling, pacing, scanning barcodes, or simply running with a smile, our club members were right at the heart of the action.
It’s a proud reminder that Carn Runners is not just about races—it’s about supporting local running initiatives and encouraging participation at every level.
A Parkrun to Remember
From the warm welcome to the post-run chats, the 300th Heartlands Parkrun was filled with the sense of achievement and togetherness that makes parkrun so special. It’s a testament to the dedication of the organisers, volunteers, and runners who have made this event thrive week after week.
A huge thank you to Kat, the entire volunteer team, and everyone who turned up to run or walk on Saturday. Here’s to the next 300 events at Heartlands—and many more mornings of running, community, and smiles.
