What a race—and what a fantastic collection of results for Carn Runners at the Indian Queens Half Marathon!

There was plenty to celebrate throughout the day, from an outstanding team performance to three members completing the half-marathon distance for the very first time.

The 2026 event, held on Sunday 2 August, was the 44th running of the Indian Queens Half Marathon and the tenth race in this year’s Cornwall Grand Prix series. The course combines quiet country lanes with approximately five miles on the Goss Moor Trail, giving runners a varied 13.1-mile challenge through the Cornish countryside.

As ever, the Carn colours were proudly represented, with members supporting one another from the start line to the final finish.

Carn Women Claim Third Place

One of the biggest highlights of the day was an excellent performance from the Carn Runners women’s team, who secured third place overall.

Considering the size of our club compared with many of the teams competing in the series, this was a tremendous result and something everyone involved should be extremely proud of.

Team results are built through the efforts of every scoring runner. Each position gained along the course can make a difference, and the final result reflects the strength, consistency and determination shown across the team.

Finishing third among clubs drawing from much larger memberships demonstrates just how well our runners performed on the day. It also highlights the supportive team spirit that exists throughout Carn Runners, with members encouraging one another and working together even while pursuing their own individual race goals.

A massive congratulations to everyone who contributed to this superb result. Bringing home third place was an absolute triumph for the club.

First Half Marathon for Antony

A special congratulations goes to Antony M, who completed his first-ever half marathon.

Moving up to 13.1 miles is a significant step in any runner’s journey. It requires more than simply extending a normal training run; it takes patience, consistent preparation and the confidence to keep moving when the distance begins to feel unfamiliar.

Antony rose to that challenge and crossed the finish line as a half-marathon runner for the first time.

That first finish is a moment he will always remember—and hopefully the beginning of many more adventures over the distance.

Nick Reaches a New Milestone

Nick W also joined the half-marathon club at Indian Queens.

Every runner approaches their first half with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Training provides the physical preparation, but nothing quite replicates the experience of covering the full race distance among hundreds of other runners.

Nick worked his way through all 13.1 miles and earned a brilliant new running milestone.

Completing a first half marathon is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated, particularly on a course combining rural roads, trails and the undulations of the Cornish countryside.

Congratulations, Nick—we look forward to seeing where your running takes you next.

Charmaine Completes Her First Half

The third member celebrating a first half-marathon finish was Charmaine W.

Charmaine has shown fantastic progress, and completing the Indian Queens Half Marathon was a fitting reward for all the effort that went into reaching the start line.

Those final miles of a first half can ask plenty of both the body and mind. Continuing towards the finish requires determination, sensible pacing and a willingness to keep working when the legs begin to tire.

Charmaine did exactly that, completing the distance and becoming another proud member of Carn’s growing half-marathon club.

Take a bow, Charmaine—a huge achievement and hopefully one you will remember for many years.

More Than Just the Finishing Times

Race results naturally focus on positions and finishing times, but they never tell the whole story.

Behind every result are the weeks of training, the evenings when it would have been easier to stay at home, the longer weekend runs and the encouragement shared between club members.

For our experienced runners, Indian Queens offered another opportunity to race, contribute to the team competition and test themselves over a demanding distance.

For Antony, Nick and Charmaine, it marked the completion of something entirely new.

That mixture of experienced racers and members achieving first-time milestones perfectly reflects what Carn Runners is all about. Everyone may arrive with different goals, but the encouragement and pride in one another’s achievements remain the same.

A Brilliant Day for the Club

From the women’s team securing third place to three new half-marathon finishers crossing the line, this was a memorable day for Carn Runners.

Congratulations to Antony, Nick and Charmaine on completing your first half marathons. Reaching this distance is a huge achievement, and we are excited to follow your continued running progress.

A huge well done also goes to our women’s team for an outstanding third-place finish, as well as every Carn Runner who raced, supported and helped create another brilliant club day.

What a set of results, and what a team.

Well done, everyone! 💙💛
