London Marathon Training

Dear Carnies

This is a brief update on my training preparation for the London Marathon having been fortunate to have secured a club place.  This is my 4th marathon, my previous marathons were the Duchy and the Cornish in 2012 when I completed all the grand prix series and the Edinburgh marathon last year. I’ve more or less followed the same training regime as last year building up the miles on the Sunday run. I’ve been training with my friend Sharon from Newquay Running Club, who also has a club place. Those of you who did Edinburgh last year know Sharon, as she joined us on our weekend trip. Our Sunday runs have mostly been on the Bissoe, Indian Queens and Camel trails as well as the Bideford half marathon a few weeks ago. This Sunday, with 3 weeks to go, we are doing our longest run, 22 miles on the Camel trail followed by a well-deserved pub lunch in the Borrough Arms. A big thank you to Judy, Sandy, Carole and Barry Drew who have joined us on a Sunday for all or part of the route and kept us going. Also a big thank you to Sonia, for the physio, massage and acupuncture. Rock tape on my knees is now a permanent fixture. I’m really looking forward to the big day particularly as its most likely to be last marathon. I don’t think my knees will cope with another one. Good luck to all the other Carnies who are doing marathon training.

Best wishes

Margaret
