Parkrun Tourism, Lake District Adventures and Sunny Social Runs
This week showed the true variety of what being part of Carn Runners is all about — from parkrun tourism in the Lakes to an epic 11-mile swim, and from woodland trails in Illogan to sand dunes by the coast.
Laura’s Lake District Parkrun and Janna’s Epic Swim
Laura has been making the most of her time away in the Lake District, and naturally, she fitted in some parkrun tourism while there. Exploring new courses is one of the joys of being part of the parkrun community, and Laura embraced the chance to experience the Lakes in her running shoes.
After her run, she went on to cheer on and support Janna, who undertook an incredible challenge — the Chillswim Windermere 11 Miles End to End swim. A feat of both mental and physical endurance, it was inspiring to see Laura and others supporting from the sidelines, proving once again that Carn Runners is about far more than just miles on the road.
Weekend Social – Illogan Woods to Portreath
Back home in Cornwall, the weekend social run offered sunshine and smiles as runners set off through the shady paths of Illogan Woods before heading down towards the coast at Portreath. The mix of woodland trails and coastal views made for a route full of variety and charm, and the steady pace gave plenty of opportunity for relaxed conversation.
Friday Group – Dunes Run
Meanwhile, the Friday group kept up their tradition with a run through the dunes, a weekly favourite that never fails to challenge the legs while rewarding the effort with wide-open views and plenty of laughs.
A Week That Shows It All
From supporting friends through epic endurance events to enjoying the simple pleasure of steady social miles, this week has highlighted everything that makes Carn Runners special: community, variety, and shared experiences both near and far.
