Carn Runners at the Storm the Fort 10K

Six Carn Runners headed out to take on the Storm the Fort 10K, a challenging multi-terrain race that lives up to its name with hills, woodland paths, and plenty of grit required. While the weather forecast threatened rain, the group managed to dodge the worst of it, making conditions near-perfect for racing.

Woodland Trails and Tough Climbs

The route took runners along undulating woodland paths, winding through shaded stretches and open trails. While scenic, the course was no easy feat, demanding focus on the uneven terrain and stamina to deal with its relentless climbs.

One hill in particular proved memorable — a long, steep ascent that had to be tackled not once, but twice, thanks to the two-loop course design. By the second lap, it was a test of pure determination, but Carn Runners rose to the challenge.

Grit and Enjoyment in Equal Measure

Despite the difficulty, there was plenty of enjoyment to be found. The group supported each other throughout, and the satisfaction of conquering the hills made the finish line feel even sweeter. Events like this highlight the resilience and positive spirit that define Carn Runners — taking on tough conditions with a smile and celebrating the effort as much as the result.

Fantastic Marshals and Support

One of the standout features of the day was the brilliant organisation and support. Marshals lined the route, cheering on every runner and helping to lift spirits when the hills felt endless. The encouragement from volunteers and supporters added to the community feel and made the event all the more rewarding.

A Race to Remember

The Storm the Fort 10K is not just another race — it’s one that challenges runners physically and mentally, while also showcasing the beauty of woodland running. For our six Carn Runners, it was a chance to test themselves, enjoy the camaraderie of the event, and represent the club with pride.

Well done to all six Carn Runners who took part in the Storm the Fort 10K. You tackled the trails, beat the hills, and showed once again what it means to wear the yellow and blue with pride. 💛💙
