It was another strong turnout for Carn Runners on this week’s Sunday Social, with the group heading out for a solid run from Hayle to Carbis Bay and back. With runners covering between 10 and 13 miles on average, it was a brilliant morning of steady miles, good company and another reminder that even when the weather looks uncertain, getting out with the club is nearly always worth it.

The forecast suggested it might be a bit of a mixed bag, and that proved to be the case, with the group spending much of the morning dodging showers. Thankfully, luck was on our side for much of the run, and while there were a few threatening patches of weather about, it could certainly have been much worse.

A Strong Route with Great Company

The Hayle to Carbis Bay route always makes for a cracking social run. It offers a good mix of scenery, solid mileage and the kind of rolling terrain that keeps things interesting without taking away from the relaxed and social side of the morning.

For Carn Runners, social runs like this are not about chasing times or turning every outing into a race. They are about getting the miles in, supporting each other, enjoying the route and making the most of being out with a like-minded group. That was very much the case again here, with everyone settling into a comfortable rhythm and putting in some really strong running.

Dodging the Showers

Anyone who runs regularly in Cornwall knows how quickly conditions can change, and this Sunday was no different. One minute it looked reasonably settled, the next there was the threat of another shower passing through.

Fortunately, the group managed to be fairly lucky, threading their way through the worst of it and keeping the run enjoyable from start to finish. Sometimes that is all you can ask for — a bit of luck with the weather and a good group around you to keep spirits high.

There is something about sharing those conditions that makes social running even better. Whether it is a light drizzle, a sudden gust of wind or a collective decision to pretend the dark cloud ahead is definitely going somewhere else, it all adds to the morning.

Great Running All Round

With runners covering 10 to 13 miles, this was another really valuable long-run session for the group. Those sorts of distances are ideal for building endurance, preparing for upcoming races and keeping training ticking along nicely as the season moves forward.

Most importantly, it was great running all round. Everyone put in a strong effort, kept each other going and came away with another successful Sunday morning banked.

That is one of the best things about club socials — every runner gets something from them. For some, it is about building confidence over longer miles. For others, it is part of race preparation. And for many, it is simply about enjoying a good run with good people.

Another Lovely Morning for Carn Runners

The Sunday Social continues to be a big part of what makes Carn Runners such a welcoming and supportive club. Week after week, members turn up, put the miles in and make these runs what they are.

A route from Hayle to Carbis Bay and back, 10 to 13 miles, a bit of shower-dodging, and plenty of strong running — that sounds like a pretty successful morning to us.

Well done to everyone who came along and put in the miles.
