Some runs stay with you for a long time.
Not just because they’re tough, but because of what they prove.
On Saturday morning, Susan lined up at the start of the Endurancelife North Cornwall 10K, one of Cornwall’s most demanding coastal trail races. The wind, the hills, the terrain — all very much living up to the Endurancelife reputation.
By the time she crossed the finish line, she had every reason to be smiling.
“Endurancelife North Cornwall 10k completed this morning. Was chuffing hard work but finished over 30 minutes faster than when I did it 3 years ago, so happy with that!”
That’s not just an improvement.
That’s a transformation.
A Course That Never Gives Anything Away
Anyone who’s raced Endurancelife knows these events are never about easy miles. The North Cornwall 10K is packed with steep climbs, technical sections, and exposed coastal paths that demand both physical strength and mental grit.
It’s the sort of course where pace plans go out the window and effort becomes the only thing that matters. Every climb feels earned. Every descent needs focus. And by the final stretch, the legs are usually well aware of what they’ve been through.
Which makes Susan’s performance all the more impressive.
Thirty Minutes Faster — Three Years in the Making
Shaving a few minutes off a race time is an achievement.
Cutting over 30 minutes from the same event, on the same demanding terrain, three years later? That’s huge.
It speaks volumes about:
- Consistency in training
- Sticking with running through the ups and downs
- Building strength, confidence, and resilience over time
This wasn’t about a perfect race day. Susan described it as “chuffing hard work” — which anyone who’s tackled coastal trail running will instantly relate to. But the result shows just how far she’s come.
Progress like this doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built run by run, week by week.
A Brilliant Example of What Club Running Is About
One of the best things about Carn Runners is seeing members take on challenges that matter to them — whether that’s a first 5K, a local league race, or a brutal coastal trail event like this one.
Susan’s run is a great reminder that:
- Improvement isn’t always linear
- Past race times don’t define your future ones
- Showing up consistently really does pay off
It’s also a reminder that running isn’t just about competition. It’s about personal goals, quiet milestones, and moments where you surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.
Well Done, Susan 👏
A massive congratulations to Susan on a cracking run and a seriously impressive improvement. Tackling a course like the Endurancelife North Cornwall 10K and coming away with such a positive result is something to be proud of.
Here’s to more tough races, more coastal miles, and more moments like this 💙💛
If you’ve got a race result, personal milestone, or achievement you’d like to share, let the club know — we love celebrating these moments.
