Best Coastal Running Routes in Cornwall (Local Favourites with Breathtaking Views) 🌊🏃

Cornwall’s coast is a playground for runners. From sweeping bays to rugged cliff paths, the South West Coast Path offers some of the most scenic (and sometimes brutal) running terrain in the UK.

We asked around, checked Strava segments, looked at local club favourites, and dug into race routes to bring you this list of Cornwall’s most popular and scenic coastal runs.

1. Perranporth to St Agnes (Return)

Distance: ~6 miles return
Why it’s popular: Dramatic cliffs, golden sand, and a few lung-busting hills make this a go-to for coastal training. Used regularly for social runs and hill sessions.

2. Hayle Towans to Godrevy Point

Distance: ~5–7 miles return
Why it’s popular: Soft sand, dune paths, and a lighthouse finish. This route is a favourite for evening runs, long efforts and photography stops. Bonus: seals often spotted near the point.

3. Portreath to Porthtowan (Return)

Distance: ~6 miles return
Why it’s popular: A short but sharp section of the coast path, with tough climbs and fast descents. Well-trodden by trail runners and frequently featured in club and race routes.

4. Lizard Point to Kynance Cove (Loop)

Distance: ~4.5 miles
Why it’s popular: Stunning, otherworldly scenery and a mix of terrain. Regularly mentioned in running blogs and tourist guides. A great loop for visitors and locals alike.

5. Marazion to Penzance Coastal Path (Return)

Distance: ~6 miles return
Why it’s popular: Flat, paved, and beginner-friendly. Ideal for recovery runs, couch-to-5K sessions or just soaking in the view of St Michael’s Mount. Safe and accessible year-round.
