The Carn Runners weekend social run delivered exactly what it promises best — choice, variety, and great company. With distances ranging from 6.5 to 10 miles, there was something for everyone, whether runners were looking for a steady social outing or stretching things a little longer as part of their training.

The conditions added their own flavour to the morning. The coastal sections were very blowy, reminding us all that running in Cornwall often comes with an extra challenge or two. Headwinds tested resolve and effort, but spirits stayed high as the group worked together, chatting, laughing, and sharing the miles.

Once the route turned inland, the character of the run shifted. The coombe road and woodland sections offered welcome shelter, calmer air, and a chance to relax into a comfortable rhythm. These quieter stretches were rather pleasant, with autumnal colours beginning to creep in and the sound of footfalls replacing the roar of the wind. It’s these contrasts — rugged coast followed by peaceful woodland — that make local routes so enjoyable and keep each run feeling fresh.

As always, the social side of the run was front and centre. Groups naturally formed and re-formed along the way, with plenty of encouragement shared between runners covering different distances. Whether heading back at the shorter end or pushing on for the longer option, everyone finished with smiles, tired legs, and that familiar sense of satisfaction that comes from a good run well shared.

Weekend social runs like this highlight one of Carn Runners’ biggest strengths — inclusivity. There’s no pressure, no set pace, just the chance to turn up, run together, and enjoy the experience. These sessions are perfect for building confidence, maintaining consistency, and staying connected as a club.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and made the morning what it was. Whatever distance you chose, you earned it — especially into those coastal gusts! 💛💙
