It was another brilliant morning out for Carn Runners as this week’s Sunday Social delivered something we don’t always get — dry weather and even a bit of sunshine.
After what has felt like weeks of battling wind, rain and muddy conditions, it made a refreshing change to head out for a long run without worrying about the elements. And it clearly brought out a fantastic turnout, with runners ready to make the most of the conditions.
Distances for Everyone
One of the best things about Sunday Social runs is the flexibility they offer, and this week was no different.
With runners covering anything from 8 miles right up to 20 miles, there was something for everyone. Whether building up distance, ticking off a steady long run or pushing towards bigger race goals, the session allowed everyone to get exactly what they needed.
Seeing that range of distances all happening within the same group really highlights the strength of the club — runners supporting each other, regardless of pace or experience.
Perfect Conditions for a Long Run
There’s something about a dry, mostly sunny morning that just makes running feel easier. The roads and trails were in great condition, the air felt fresh and the lighter skies made the miles pass that little bit quicker.
After a run of tougher weather recently, it was a welcome boost for everyone out on the route. No battling headwinds, no dodging puddles — just good, honest miles in much nicer conditions.
It’s amazing how much difference that can make, not just physically but mentally too.
Amazing Efforts All Round
From those stepping up their distance to those cruising through longer mileage, there were some fantastic efforts across the board.
Long runs are never easy, especially as the miles start to build, but having a group around you makes all the difference. Encouragement, conversation and shared effort help push everyone along, even when the legs start to tire.
Every runner out there put in a strong shift, and it’s always great to see that collective effort from the club.
A Lovely Group as Always
As ever, what stood out most wasn’t just the miles covered, but the atmosphere within the group.
Sunday Social runs are about more than just training — they’re about catching up, supporting one another and enjoying being part of a welcoming and friendly club. This week was another perfect example of that.
A lovely group, great conditions and plenty of miles completed — a cracking way to round off the weekend.
