A small group of Carnies headed to Mawnan Smith on Sunday 20 September, with Steve, Zoe, Hobie and Nick representing Carn Runners at Run Mawnan 2026.
The annual charity running event brought runners and families together at Carwinion Playing Field for a morning of racing around the village and surrounding Cornish countryside.
Four Carnies join the Run Mawnan field
Steve, Zoe, Hobie and Nick formed this year’s Carn Runners contingent. It may have been a relatively small club group, but it was another welcome Carn presence at a community event here in Cornwall.
Run Mawnan offered a choice of a 5K road race, a 10K and a one-mile children’s fun run. Both adult races began and finished at Carwinion Playing Field, taking participants out onto the country roads around Mawnan Smith.
A scenic route through Mawnan Smith
The adult courses headed down into the village before following roads towards Trebah Gardens and the turning for Helford Passage. The 5K runners then returned towards the playing field, while those taking on the 10K continued through Boskensoe, Tregarne and Penwarne before heading back to the finish.
That combination of village roads, rural surroundings and views towards the North Helford area gives Run Mawnan a distinctly local character. Full course information and maps remain available through the 2026 Run Mawnan event listing.
Running for a charitable cause
Organised by Falmouth Rotary, Run Mawnan is a family-friendly annual event held to raise money for charitable causes. Alongside the races, the event programme included refreshments, entertainment, stalls and a raffle at the playing field.
Events like this offer more than a finish line. They bring together runners of different ages and experience levels while supporting the work of local volunteers and community organisations.
Well done to Steve, Zoe, Hobie and Nick for getting out there and flying the flag for Carn Runners.
