Huge congratulations go to Elena, who produced a fantastic personal-best performance at the Cheltenham Half Marathon on Sunday 20 September.
Representing Carn Runners away from Cornwall, Elena crossed the finish line in a brilliant time of 1 hour 46 minutes. It was an outstanding run over the 13.1-mile distance and another superb result to celebrate in the Carn colours.
A brilliant performance in Cheltenham
The 2026 Run Cheltenham Half Marathon started and finished at Cheltenham Racecourse, with runners tackling a closed-road course through the town before returning for the racecourse finish.
Completing any half marathon demands a well-judged effort across the full distance. Finishing in 1h 46m is an excellent achievement, but making it a huge personal best gives Elena even more reason to be pleased with the result.
For anyone less familiar with racing language, a PB is a runner’s fastest recorded time over a particular distance. Our guide to common running terms and club jargon explains PBs and some of the other expressions regularly heard at training sessions and races.
Another memorable result on the road
Travelling to an unfamiliar event can bring a different challenge, from managing the journey to settling into the atmosphere of a much larger race. Elena rose to the occasion and delivered a performance worthy of a very big Carn Runners cheer.
A time of 1h 46m represents a strong, sustained run from start to finish. More importantly, it marks a new personal benchmark for Elena and another memorable milestone in her running journey.
Brilliant running, Elena — congratulations on a fantastic new half-marathon PB!
