Janet and Sarah from Carn Runners embarked on a memorable weekend of running adventures, combining picturesque routes with delightful treats.
Severn Bridge parkrun
Their weekend began with the Severn Bridge parkrun, a unique 5K event that spans the iconic Severn Bridge, offering runners the rare experience of crossing the border between Wales and England mid-run. The course is renowned for its scenic views and the exhilarating feeling of running over such a significant structure.
Healthy Cream Tea Brunch
Post-parkrun, the duo treated themselves to a healthy cream tea brunch en route to Symonds Yat, combining indulgence with nourishment to refuel for the next day’s challenge.
Scorpion 11K Trail Run
On Sunday, they tackled the Scorpion 11K trail run at Symonds Yat. This challenging course winds through the Forest of Dean, offering runners stunning views of the River Wye. The route is known for its undulating terrain, with the final kilometre featuring a steep climb to the summit of Symonds Yat Rock—a true “sting in the tail.”
After conquering the trail, Janet and Sarah celebrated with well-deserved ice creams at the Rock Café, soaking in the panoramic views and reflecting on a weekend filled with adventure, achievement, and scenic beauty.
