December running with Carn Runners wouldn’t feel complete without a festive outing, and the Christmas Lights Run at Angarrack delivered exactly the right mix of seasonal cheer, social miles and shared smiles. With headtorches glowing and club colours lighting up the evening, members headed out to enjoy one of Cornwall’s most well-known festive displays.
Angarrack’s “Christmas Central” has become a firm favourite at this time of year, and incorporating it into a club run made for a brilliant mid-week treat. The run wasn’t about pace or distance — it was about getting together, enjoying the atmosphere and soaking up the magic of Christmas while still getting those winter miles done.
A Run with a Festive Twist
As the group arrived at Angarrack, the lights were already putting on a show. Streets and gardens were glowing with colour, and the famous Christmas Central arch provided the perfect backdrop for a very festive Carn Runners photo. Some runners embraced the spirit fully, adding Santa hats and festive touches to their kit, while others let the lights do the talking.
The route allowed everyone to enjoy the displays at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to take it all in. Conversations flowed easily, laughter carried through the group, and there was a real sense that this was one of those runs people would remember long after the lights were packed away.
Running Together at Christmas
What made the evening special wasn’t just the lights — it was the shared experience. Winter evenings can be dark, cold and quiet, but running as a group transforms them into something entirely different. The Angarrack lights run captured that perfectly, turning an ordinary evening into a festive highlight of the club calendar.
For newer members, it was a great chance to experience the social side of Carn Runners, while long-standing members enjoyed a familiar tradition that never quite feels the same twice. The relaxed nature of the run meant everyone could take part, chat freely and simply enjoy being out together.
A Perfect Seasonal Pause
As the run wrapped up, there was a real sense of contentment. No rush, no pressure — just a group of runners enjoying the season, sharing stories and heading home with smiles on their faces. It was a reminder that running isn’t always about races or results; sometimes it’s about creating moments like this that bring people together.
The Angarrack Christmas Lights Run was also a lovely way to break up the busy festive period, offering a chance to step away from the rush of December and enjoy something simple, active and uplifting.
Ending the Year on a High
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening what it was. From festive outfits to great company, it was another example of why Carn Runners’ social runs are such an important part of the club.
With the lights shining bright and the year drawing to a close, this run felt like the perfect way to celebrate the season — festive, friendly and full of cheer. 💙💛🎄
