Carn Runners Monthly Track Sessions – A Popular New Addition
One of the most exciting new features of the Carn Runners training calendar this year has been the introduction of our monthly track sessions. These evenings have quickly become a favourite among members, offering a chance to sharpen fitness, work on technique, and build team spirit in a focused but fun environment.
Training for Every Runner
The beauty of the track sessions is that they are designed for all abilities. Whether you’re an experienced racer chasing PBs or a newer runner looking to build confidence, the track provides a safe, measured environment to work at your own pace.
Each session is carefully set up so that everyone can take part, regardless of speed. From steady runners to sprinters, the oval becomes a leveller, giving everyone a chance to push themselves and celebrate progress.
Focus on Speed, Stamina and Endurance
Unlike a typical club run, the track allows for specific training focus. Over the months, we’ve mixed things up with:
- Interval sessions to build speed and leg turnover
- Stamina-focused blocks to strengthen endurance
- Relay practice to keep things fun and competitive
- Technique drills and pacing exercises to improve form
This variety has not only improved fitness but also helped members develop confidence in running at different intensities.
Team Building and Support
Perhaps the biggest benefit has been the sense of team spirit. Running on the track brings everyone together in one place, cheering each other on, swapping turns at the front, and celebrating the effort as much as the outcome.
It’s been brilliant to see Carnies encouraging one another through the tougher reps, proving once again that running is always better when done together.
Looking Ahead
With the sessions proving so popular, they are now a regular fixture on the Carn Runners calendar. They’ve added a new dimension to training, balancing the social runs and long miles with focused speed and stamina work — helping everyone become stronger, more confident runners.
