Friday Night Run & Parkrun Tourism Adventures
Rain, wind, and a few determined smiles — that just about sums up this week’s Friday night run for Carn Runners. While conditions were far from ideal, our runners turned up as always, embracing the Cornish weather and enjoying an energetic evening out together.
Friday Night Run – Wet, Windy, and Welcoming
The evening brought classic autumn conditions — steady rain, gusty wind, and puddles galore — but the Friday group headed out regardless, proving that a bit of weather never stops a Carnie.
It was especially great to see Dennis back running with us after several weeks off. Having him return to the group added a boost of enthusiasm and plenty of friendly chat. The route may have been damp, but spirits were anything but.
There’s something uniquely satisfying about finishing a Friday night run knowing you’ve earned that weekend feeling — even if your shoes are soaked through. With the group’s trademark camaraderie, the miles passed quickly, and laughter could be heard over the sound of rain on jackets.
Parkrun Tourism – Going the Distance
While the Friday crew were splashing through Cornish puddles, some Carnies were out exploring new courses and ticking off more parkruns for their personal challenges.
The Webb family added another letter to their parkrun alphabet challenge, heading to the University of Northampton Parkrun to bag their “U.” It’s not an easy one to find, so that’s a big achievement for the challenge hunters!
Meanwhile, Margaret represented Carn Runners further north, taking on the Worcester Pitchcroft Parkrun. Known for its flat, fast route around the racecourse, it’s a favourite for chasing personal bests — even more so when you’re wearing blue and yellow.
Parkrun tourism has become a big part of the Carn Runners community. Whether near or far, members love exploring new courses, meeting other clubs, and sharing stories from their Saturday morning adventures.
Why It Matters
These weekly updates might seem small, but they show the full picture of club life — runners supporting each other, staying active, and finding joy in every kind of run. From the social miles on Cornish roads to exploring new parkruns around the UK, it’s all part of what makes Carn Runners such a special community.
So, whether you’re braving the weather on a Friday night, chasing letters for your parkrun alphabet, or cheering from the sidelines, you’re part of the story that keeps our club moving forward.
Until Next Week
Well done to everyone who ran this weekend — near or far, wet or dry. Enjoy your recovery miles, rest up, and we’ll see you at the next club run. 💛💙
