A solid group of Carnies headed to Mawnan Smith for the Rosemullion 10K on Sunday 25 October 2026, with two age-category places to celebrate. Janet Watson — Jan to clubmates — finished first in the women’s 70–74 category in 1:25:07, while Sally Powell took second in the same category in 1:40:51. It was a fine result for both runners on a 10K that spends much of its distance away from the road. The published age-category results list them in first and second place.

Coast path, fields and lanes

Organised by Falmouth Running Club, Rosemullion starts and finishes at Carwinion Playing Field in Mawnan Smith. The organiser describes a mostly off-road route using local footpaths, coast path around Rosemullion Head and the entrance to the Helford River, as well as tracks, fields and stretches of country lane. That variety is what makes it a different proposition from a road 10K — and a welcome outing for Carnies who enjoy the trails. (sientries.co.uk)

The race is also part of the Cornwall Multi-Terrain Race Series. Rosemullion appears as race six on Carn Runners’ 2026–27 series calendar, alongside events on other off-road routes around the county.

More to celebrate in an autumn of trail racing

There is a familiar ring to those two names appearing together in an age-category result. At August’s St Ives Bay 10K, the club reported Jan first and Sally second in their respective categories on a course featuring beach, dunes and trails. More recently, Sally took first in her category at the Tywarnhayle 10K on 4 October. Rosemullion gave them another shared result to enjoy, this time taking the top two places in one category.
