October took Carn Runners from a café-bound run to Marazion to start lines across Cornwall and further afield. Antony reached 1,000 miles for the year on a social outing where clubmates could join for the distance that suited them. In Portugal, Sarah, Jan and their friend Jacquie shared the challenge of a Cascais relay. Closer to home, Elena came away from the Eden Half-Marathon with a new PB, while Wednesday nights brought both a busy track session and a choice of local routes.
That’s only part of the month’s story. There were hills, mud and new parkrun courses, as well as useful updates for anyone getting to know the club. The October posts below are a chance to catch up on the outings, achievements and club moments we’ve been sharing.
Carn Ladies Take on Roadford’s Halloween Trails
Four Carn ladies headed to Roadford Lake for a Halloween weekend of trail running on Saturday 31 October 2026. Sarah P, Jan and Sarah C took on the 10K, while Cat ran the half marathon with a friend. With perfect weather, mud and stunning scenery, it was a fine day to swap familiar roads for
Antony, Nick, Kerry and Vicky Take On the Cornish Marathon
A massive well done to Antony, Nick, Kerry and Vicky, who took on the Cornish Marathon on Sunday 1 November 2026. Across our four runners, there was plenty to celebrate: joining the marathon club, setting a new personal best and adding another finish at this much-loved Cornish race. Each is an achievement worth recognising, especially
Wayne, Jan and Janet Take on the Bideford 10 Mile
Three Carn Runners made the trip to Devon for the Bideford 10 Mile on Sunday 1 November 2026. Wayne, Jan and Janet took on the scenic estuary-side course in beautiful sunshine — a lovely setting for ten miles in Carn colours. There was one small hitch with the race-day photo: Wayne was too quick in
Rosie Takes On the Mud at Kernow Killer
A huge well done to Rosie for taking on the mud and madness at Kernow Killer! The obstacle-course event was held at Scorrier House Estate, near Redruth, on Sunday 25 October 2026 — a challenge close to home for Carn Runners. This was no ordinary run around the estate. The event organiser describes Kernow Killer
Zoe Sets a New PB at the Rugby Half-Marathon
Zoe and Steve flew the Carn Runners blue and yellow at the Rugby Half-Marathon in Warwickshire on Sunday 25 October 2026 — and came home with plenty to celebrate. Zoe set a brand-new personal best over the distance, while Steve finished just 26 seconds outside his own PB. Huge congratulations to them both on a
Carn Colours at the Tavy 7 as Janet Takes Fourth in Her Age Group
Carn colours were out on Dartmoor for the Tavy 7 on Sunday 25 October, with Janet finishing fourth in her age group. The rain held off for what our runners described as a great race. The wind gave them something to contend with along the way, but it was behind them when it mattered for
Jan and Sally Take the Top Two Age-Category Places at Rosemullion 10K
A solid group of Carnies headed to Mawnan Smith for the Rosemullion 10K on Sunday 25 October 2026, with two age-category places to celebrate. Janet Watson — Jan to clubmates — finished first in the women’s 70–74 category in 1:25:07, while Sally Powell took second in the same category in 1:40:51. It was a fine
Bex Finishes the Eden Marathon After an Early Fall
A huge well done to Bex, who completed the Eden Project Marathon on Sunday 18 October 2026 despite taking a fall just four miles into the race. She kept going across the hilly course and finished with a faster trail-marathon time than she had run before. It was a day with plenty to take in
Elena Runs an Eden Half-Marathon PB in 1:46:54
A huge well done to Elena, who completed the Eden Half-Marathon on Sunday 18 October 2026 in 1:46:54 — a new personal best over the distance. That is a brilliant result for our Carn Runners member, and one we’re delighted to celebrate. The Eden race is no ordinary half marathon on uninterrupted roads. Its route
Sarah, Jan and Jacquie Take on the Cascais 70.3 Relay
Three people, three disciplines and one memorable day in Portugal: Sarah, Jan and their friend Jacquie took on the IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal-Cascais relay on Saturday 17 October 2026. Sarah handled the 1,900m swim, Jan took on the 90km bike leg, and Jacquie completed the team’s half-marathon run. It was hot and a little windy, but
Jan and Sarah Start Their Cascais Adventure with a Night Run
Jan and Sarah have started their Cascais adventure with a 5K night run and, in their words, a “good party atmosphere”. Their next stop is registration for Saturday’s main event. It is a short but happy update from Portugal: the first run is done, and the weekend’s bigger challenge is still ahead. A 5K start
A Big Turnout for a Tough Track Interval Session
What a turnout at track yesterday evening! On Wednesday 14 October, Carn Runners took on a tough but rewarding interval session built around short efforts and even shorter rests as the evening went on. Great work from everyone who joined in. The session had two parts: first, 10 repetitions of 30 seconds at maximum effort
Andy Completes the Chester Marathon with Laura Cheering Him On
A massive well done to Andy Millward, who completed the MBNA Chester Marathon on Sunday 11 October 2026. Laura was there to cheer him on, and the pair also made time for some parkrun tourism in Chester on Saturday. It was a weekend that brought together a new place to run, a familiar Saturday activity
Jan and Sarah Take on Mount Edgcumbe parkrun’s Hills
Jan and Sarah dropped in on Mount Edgcumbe parkrun for an outing that packed plenty into five kilometres: hills, striking scenery, a relaxed atmosphere and a nice breakfast afterwards. With just 61 people taking part, it felt like a smaller, more laid-back morning than many parkruns — though there was nothing especially laid-back about the
Nick Clocks 1:37:13 at the Cardiff Half Marathon
A huge well done to Nick, who ran the Cardiff Half Marathon in an amazing 1:37:13 on Sunday 4 October 2026. It is a brilliant result over 13.1 miles, and a chance to celebrate the training that went into reaching the start line ready to race. Nick’s finish was comfortably inside one hour and 40
From Tamar Mist to Devon Sunshine: Janet Runs the Templer Ten
At nine o’clock on Sunday morning, the Tamar Bridge was wrapped in such thick mist that Devon had disappeared from view on the Cornwall side. It was an unlikely start to a warm, sunny race day. Once across the bridge, though, the mist gave way to blue sky, and Janet headed on to the 2026
Social Miles from Camborne to Marazion—and 1,000 for Antony
A weekend social run took Carn Runners from Camborne to Marazion, but it did not ask everyone to cover the same distance. Some members ran the full journey; others joined along the way. The shared destination was a café stop in Marazion—and, for Antony, the outing also brought a milestone: 1,000 miles run so far
Three Carnies Take On the Hilly Tywarnhayle 10K
Three Carnies took on the Tywarnhayle 10K on Sunday 4 October 2026, and all three gave us something to celebrate. Steve was our first runner home, Sally finished first in her age category and Tory placed third in hers. Their verdict on the race? A lovely run despite the hills — and one they would
There are results worth cheering, including Jan and Sally taking the top two places in their age category at Rosemullion. But the month’s stories are just as much about the people alongside us: those who turn up for a tough session, join a run for the miles that work for them, or make sure a clubmate has someone cheering them on. Thank you to everyone who ran, supported, led a group or helped someone feel at home.
November has more Wednesday runs ahead, along with another track night and the AGM and Awards Night. Have a look at the run schedule for the latest details and choose what suits you. See you out there, Carnies.
